Reaching the Unreached
Rodney and Malinda Hinrichs began Reaching the Unreached as a ministry to India in 1993. They have targeted their prayers and ministry to reach the Banjara tribe, primarily outcasts and untouchables in India’s caste system.
Today, there are 14 nationals in India who have been trained, 9 of them being Banjara, who reach out through 570 house churches that have been planted. They are also training leaders and disciples to provide pastors for these house churches.
In 1995, Rodney and Malinda made their first trip to Ghana. They began training and equipping men to plant churches in these villages.
Today, there are 20 missionaries in 9 locations in northern Ghana, Togo, and Cote d’Ivoire who are evangelizing, planting churches, and training leaders to pastor in those congregations. 35 pastors have been ordained to help lead churches. There are also new churches that are being established in Benin and Burkina Faso.
Over the last 25 years, 200 churches have been established in villages that had no Christian presence before. There are now 10,000 people worshipping in those congregations each week!
On January 1, 2015, Rodney and Malinda stepped down and turned over Reaching the Unreached – West Africa to Tim and Bev Nappe. Although Rodney and Malinda will not be involved in the day-to-day operation of this ministry, they will continue to provide advice, encouragement, and mentoring to Tim and Bev. And they will still continue to visit churches and tell the story of Reaching the Unreached. Tim and Bev have made 7 trips to Ghana and Togo, holding conferences for the missionaries, and visiting many of the churches. They are excited to be involved in Reaching the Unreached and the opportunity to help spread God’s Word in West Africa.
